Going to the gym versus competing in bodybuilding is kind of like packing for a holiday versus moving house. This was my second competition, and I thought I knew what I was getting myself into. I didn’t.
For months, I was training for up to two hours a day, then coming back later for another 45–60 minutes of cardio. Every calorie mattered. Every gram of fat mattered. There was posing practice, meal prep, exhaustion and the constant mental battle of telling yourself: **don’t fuck this up now.**
And somehow I was doing all of this while working full-time and running OnlyFans on the side. It was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
It also came during a strange chapter of my life. I’d recently come out of a long-term relationship, and although that wasn’t why I competed, bodybuilding gave me somewhere to put the loneliness. For a few months, there was always a next meal, a next workout, a next goal.
The weirdest part? Almost nobody around you really understands why any of it matters. Something can consume your entire existence while looking completely trivial from the outside. That can be incredibly isolating.
Would I do it again? Absolutely.
Not because of the trophy or how I looked on stage, but because it taught me something much more useful: as humans, **we can do hard things. **And knowing that you can do hard things might be the most important muscle you ever build.
